Basically, it's a short-range wireless technology that simplifies communication between internet devices like smart phones, tablets and computers, although it's most commonly used for wireless "hands-free" headsets for cell phones. The Bluetooth Special Interest Group, a cabal of over 16,000 manufacturers, oversees the standards and security of the technology. It gets its unusual name in honor of Harald Bluetooth king of Denmark in the mid-tenth century for no other reason than to recognize the contribution of Baltic countries (Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland) to the communications industry. If you look around you'll find a ton of devices that use Bluetooth. Everything from wireless printers, wireless keyboards, even some home appliances (although I still don't know why my computer and washing machine need to communicate). I hope this demystifies this technology so when you are out shopping for a smartphone, laptop, or other device you'll be aware of what Bluetooth can do. ~ David Click here to rate this tip | Printer friendly version

CLICKFREE IS THE EASIEST BACKUP SYSTEM IN THE WORLD! 100% Plug & Play Automatic Backups! 256 Bit Password Protection - Multiple Computer Support! EVEN COMES WITH A WALLET SIZED CARRY CASE!
A Sad Fact, But a True One.... Hard drives are sensitive, complex mechanical devices. No matter what, 100% of the time, they will eventually fail - causing a crash. This can be a disaster. What will you do when this happens? Sure, you can pull out your program CD's (like your Windows program) and reinstall your operating system. But what about ALL OF YOUR DATA? You know, pictures, videos, files, settings...the list goes on and on. If your system crashes, I've got news for you: that stuff is gone for good! Now consider this: there's hundreds of millions of computer users out there, and 80% of them do NOT back their files up. Why? Because until now, backing everything up was a long and complicated process. You'd have to find specific things to back up, deal with directories, file extensions, etc. IF you were able to figure it out, there's no way you'd have the time to back up every single thing. I mean...you've gotta sleep sometime, right? These problems are over for good! We've found an automatic backup drive that does ALL of that work for you! Did I mention it's automatic? Oh...well guess what? IT'S ALL AUTOMATIC! The ClickFree Automatic Backup Hard Drive is here! NO software. NO set up. NO time consuming steps. All you have to do is PLUG IT IN and it AUTOMATICALLY finds, scans and saves ALL of your files. It's a MASSIVE 16gb of AUTOMATIC back-up space! Think about everything you keep on your computer: TONS of photos. Your ENTIRE music collection. Work documents, important files and sensitive information. And don't forget about those vacation and family gathering videos. You've gotta back that stuff up! EXTREMELY user friendly: it'll even categorize your music, pictures, videos and documents into separate areas for maximum organization! Oh, and it works on multiple computers - you've gotta check this thing out! Ultra Durable Aluminum Construction WITH a Wallet Sized Carry Case... It's Just the Size of a Credit Card! Have you noticed that all of the high end computer manufacturers are using aluminum these days? Take Apple, for example, with their MacBook series. That's because aluminum is durable and will protect the sensitive internal parts while keeping them cool. This back-up drive is made from that same aluminum, and you'll notice the quality right away. It's as thin and small as a credit card, but UNBELIVEABLY strong and durable! Take it everywhere without worry: it comes with a high quality wallet style carry case! Stick it in the case and you'll be carrying around your automatic back-up system in comfort, with full protection! If You Think it's Hard or Time Consuming - YOU'RE WRONG! Seriously, this thing couldn't be any easier to use: EVERYTHING IS AUTOMATIC! All you have to do is pop it into your USB port and let it do it's thing. As soon as it's done, you'll be presented with ALL of your files, backed up and organized! And there's a TON of cool features on this thing, too. Check this out: Easy Viewer: open this up, and you can view ALL of your saved files the same way they were saved. You'll know exactly what you're looking at and exactly where it is! Easy Music: This is COMPLETELY iTunes compatible! Take your iPhone, iPod or iPad, and this copies ALL of your media, backs it up, and automatically places it in your iTunes library! It's always there, and it's always backed up! Multiple Computer Backups: Go ahead and use it with any and all of your computers. From your work PC to your home computer - Windows OR Mac - doesn't matter, this can do it! Observe the image below. This is what you're presented with after ClickFree automatically backs up all of your files. Remember, this starts as soon as you stick it into your computer. It's like having an audio guru right there next to you! Then, oh, just wait till you start using the software to actually start transferring your records and cassettes to your computer! WOW! Talk about helpful! A fantastic combination of voice guidance and wizard prompts take you step by step though the process while explaining exactly how it all works! It sucks the "mystery" right out of the equation! As for features, wait till you feast your mouse on this! After you record your album or cassette, you can have the software break the recording into individual songs! That's HUGE! And get this - you can even add titles for each track - you know, song names, artist, album - and TONS more! It's all in the step by step wizard! What about after you're done recording? Ahh, that's where the fun really starts! Just choose to burn an audio CD or save to a digital file you can enjoy on your computer, an iPod or even an MP3 player! Heck, THIS supercharged software will even let you do both at once! Now THAT'S some serious performance! Want to see the whole system in action? We did a quick video demo! See for yourself how this includes everything you need, how easy it is to hook up, and how amazing the software is: Bottom line - If you have a closet full of records and cassettes, YOU need this now! Why on earth would you leave it locked up on old, useless records and cassettes when for less than the price of two new albums you can convert all of it to CD or digital format? Well, yeah - you wouldn't! You'd convert 'em! Remember - THIS kit has everything you need - it has the hardware, the software, and the cables! All you need is a computer, a record or cassette player, and a stack of old albums! Our price? Just $24.97 and US shipping is FREE! Talk about a no-brainer! Diane from OK writes: How do I delete contact emails from my Gmail contact list? As online acquaintances come and go, your digital address book may need to be updated from time to time. If you've got that "special" someone you'd rather not hear from again, or just need to clean up old contacts that aren't in use anymore, the Gmail service lets you remove unwanted entries from your address book. Gmail's interface has recently been revamped and streamlined, so the location of various options such as deleting saved contacts have been moved around. After logging into your Gmail account, click the large red "Gmail" button at the upper-left side of the screen, just below the "Google" icon. Select the "Contacts" entry in the list of options. Depending on how you have your account setup or what options you were previously using, the "Gmail" button may instead read "Tasks" or "Contacts." Each of your contact lists are located directly below the red "New Contact" button at the left side of the window. Click the name of the specific contact list you want to access, such as "My Contacts." Find the name of the contact you want to remove in the listing at the center of the window. Click the check box to the left of each contact you need to delete. If you instead want to delete every contact in the currently selected list, click the box icon at the top of the list of names and select the "All" option. To delete the selected contacts, open the "More" box above the list of contacts and click the "Delete Contact" button. Anytime you delete a contact, Gmail provides an option to immediately undo the change just in case you selected the wrong option or deleted too many contacts. If you want to restore the contacts you deleted, click the "Undo" button that appears at the top of the screen immediately after choosing "Delete Contact." In the event you later change your mind or discover you still need a specific contact that was previously deleted, it is possible to restore removed entries later on down the line. Open the "More" box again and scroll down to the "Restore Contacts" option. Click the radio button for the timeframe you want to use to restore your contacts, such as "10 minutes ago" or "1 Week Ago." If you want to go back even further, click the "Custom" button and type in the number of days to go back. Click the blue "Restore" button to restore any contacts deleted after the selected timeframe. ~Ty Arthur Click here to rate this tip | Printer friendly version Do you have a question for us? Windows 8 Surface Tablet: The iPad Killer? At a recent media event, Microsoft announced the Windows 8 Surface tablets. The Surface series of tablets feature very thin design (9.3mm to 13.5mm or 1/3 to slightly over 1/2 inch thick) and 10.6 inch capacitive touchscreens. These tablets are meant to compete directly with Apple's popular iPad (and various tablets running Google's Android) while at the same time making Windows 8 relevant to a growing market Microsoft currently has very little presence in. There are two different Surface models with some pretty significant differences... Which you can read all about here! Click here to rate this tip | Printer friendly version

I've Always Wanted To Know: Buying a TV today can involve a myriad of confusing terms so what do you need to most know about the different technologies? At it's core a flat screen TV's display is driven by one of two different technologies: LCD (liquid crystal display, like most computer monitors) and Plasma (fluorescent gas such as xenon or neon). LED TV's are LCD TV's but instead of using a CFL type backlight they use LED's either side or rear lit. So what's the pro and con of each display type? Get all the details over at WorldSart! I found this site while looking for a few easy DIY projects that I could do to get out of a creative rut. I'm in the middle of designing my first sweater, and the math was not working out, so I decided to stop and look for a project to do that would "cleanse my creative palette", so to speak. In my search I found By Wilma, which not only offers awesome DIY projects, but also shares recipes and inspiration as well. I tried the DIY Map Wallet as a potential gift for a map loving friend, and the DIY 'Love' Wire Necklace for myself. The instructions are clear, concise, and easy to follow. The recipe sections offers a nice selection of tasty treats including an ice cream cake that is is easy to make and might help cool you off on a hot summer day. Navigation is setup blog style, in reverse chronological order, so the newest posts are at the top, but By Wilma also offers a handy navigation bar at the top of the page that lets you browse by category. The categories are Home, DIY Gallery, Recipe Gallery, and About. Home will bring you back to the main page from any of the other sections of the page. Each category is filled with projects or recipes and the About section fills you in on the site's author and how the site came about. I have bookmarked this site and check in on it several times a week to see what's new; I'm hoping you will too! USB POWERED PLUG & PLAY SIMPLICITY!
Well it's About Time... Whether you have 20/20 vision or wear coke-bottle glasses that make your eyes look like baseballs, the letters and numbers on those keyboards are just TOO SMALL TO SEE! It's so annoying! Someone understands, and they've done something about it! It's a standard alpha numeric keyboard (the exact set up you're likely used to), but with MASSIVE letters on those keys and a color scheme to make it simple to see! BIG Letters + Contrasting Colors = Perfect Keyboard Vision! Most keyboards have tiny letters and numbers on the keys. Why? There's a ton of real estate left on each of those keys to make the letters bigger! It's just common sense, right? Well, apparently not... Apparently, they want us to strain our eyes for eight hours every day. Maybe the manufacturers of these keyboards are in business with the optometrists and major eye glasses companies... The letters and numbers on each of these keys are MASSIVE! You'd have to be legally blind to not be able to see them...and even then, you should be able to make them out! And it's not just the huge letters that make such a difference: it's the colors! Bright green keys. Dark black letters. It's the perfect contrast! You can't go wrong! Simple to Set Up: Plug & Play! As you can see from the image, there's NOTHING complicated about this thing. It's a keyboard with one cord attached to it. That cord plugs directly into your USB port and you're ready to use it! No drivers, no set up, just 100% plug and play simplicity! A few facts: It's also PC and MAC compatible, so it works on everything! Things Can Be WAY Easier for a VERY Small Price!
