Your Weekly Update In The World Of Technology

Microsoft Flexes Its Muscles

Microsoft made some huge announcements this week, both of which involved mobile devices that could be the top challengers to Apple's iOS empire.

1.) Microsoft Surface – Microsoft Surface is a PC tablet that will run Windows 8. In fact, this is the first commercial PC device that Microsoft has directly designed and sold. The tablet comes in at a measurement of 10.6″ with front and rear-facing cameras. The tablet itself is 9.3 millimeters thick and weights 1.5 lbs. One big feature of the Surface is a cover that flips to become a keyboard, as well as a built-in kickstand. Prices have yet to be released, but the Surface will come in two flavors: the more tablet-like priced Windows RT, and the higher-end ultrabook-like priced version that will come with a full version of Windows 8. We'll have even more details in future articles.

2.) Windows Phone 8 Apollo – Microsoft also announced updates to its mobile OS. These updates include a new Start Screen, a better Internet Explorer 10, and hardware upgrades such as multi-core processors and memory card support. The processors will be dual-core processors and the phones will include a microSD card expansion slot.

It's… It's…. BEAUTIFUL!

Say this with me now — the biggest. TV. In the world.

That's what Sharp is boasting now with its Sharp Aquos LED TV. It may not actually be the biggest in the world — there are some plasma screens that are larger — but the Aquos LED TV may be the biggest LED TV out there. The new TV was unveiled on Tuesday and boasts dimensions of 4 feet tall and 6 feet, 8 inches in diameter. By comparison, the average height of a basketball player in the NBA is only 6 feet, 7 inches. (Oh boy, I really want to watch sports on this thing now)

Despite its enormous size, the Aquos weighs in at only 141 pounds. On top of that it is only 5 inches thick. The price tag for this little (big) slice of entertainment heaven? Only $10,999.99. On second thought, I think I can buy NBA season tickets for less than that…

One Day Only BLOWOUT PRICE!

Just
$28.97 !

Amazing All-In-One Kit Has Every thing You Need!

It Even TALKS You Through the Set Up!

Check Out Steve's VIDEO DEMONSTRATION!

Do you have an enormous collection of music on records and cassettes? Do you want to release all those songs from their analog prison and enjoy them once again? Wouldn't it be GREAT if you could discover a quick, easy way to convert them so you can listen on your computer, on CD, or even your MP3 player / iPod?

If only...

Oh wait - THERE IS AN EASY WAY!

We just received a fantastic new product - the ADS Instant Music System - that makes it mind-blowingly simple to convert your old records and cassettes to digital format - and from there create your own custom CDs, transfer music to your iPod / MP3 player, or hey, just sit back and enjoy right on your computer!

Psst - Wanna know the coolest thing about this ingenious kit?

It includes absolutely EVERYTHING you need to do your transfers! You just need a computer and a record or cassette player! (note - your player will need to have either a standard headphone or RCA output - buy hey, most do)

All the cables, software, and adapters are right there are your fingertips!

Talk about a "no headache" approach huh?

Just imagine - No worrying about having the right cables, no fretting over what to plug in where on the back of your computer, no hunting down and spending big bucks on the (hopefully) right software - THIS has it all! A one-stop shop for all your converting needs!!

Oh, and hooking everything up - it's a BREEZE!

Just plug the USB cord into the device and your computer. See, told you it was simple! Then, using the included cords, attach your record or cassette player to the device. Still easy - and you're almost done! Now, just run the software and follow the prompts!

WOW! It really IS easy!

Speaking of software, just wait till you get a load of program they give you with this baby!

Heck, the included software ALONE is worth the price!

Get this - The software will actually TALK YOU THROUGH your hardware connections! Yeah, I know - awesome! There's literally a voice that guides you though the process! It asks what you want to record from (record player or cassette) and then starts asking you questions about the hardware you're connecting to! It even shows you example photos - you'll know EXACTLY where to plug in all your cables!

Even if you can't hook up a can opener, you can use this puppy to convert your records and cassettes! It's like having an audio guru right there next to you!

Then, oh, just wait till you start using the software to actually start transferring your records and cassettes to your computer! WOW! Talk about helpful! A fantastic combination of voice guidance and wizard prompts take you step by step though the process while explaining exactly how it all works!

It sucks the "mystery" right out of the equation!

As for features, wait till you feast your mouse on this! After you record your album or cassette, you can have the software break the recording into individual songs! That's HUGE! And get this - you can even add titles for each track - you know, song names, artist, album - and TONS more! It's all in the step by step wizard!

What about after you're done recording? Ahh, that's where the fun really starts! Just choose to burn an audio CD or save to a digital file you can enjoy on your computer, an iPod or even an MP3 player! Heck, THIS supercharged software will even let you do both at once! Now THAT'S some serious performance!

Want to see the whole system in action? We did a quick video demo! See for yourself how this includes everything you need, how easy it is to hook up, and how amazing the software is:

Bottom line - If you have a closet full of records and cassettes, YOU need this now!

Hey, how much money did you originally spend on all those albums? Hundreds, maybe thousands of dollars? Why on earth would you leave it locked up on old, useless records and cassettes when for less than the price of two new albums you can convert all of it to CD or digital format? Well, yeah - you wouldn't! You'd convert 'em!

Remember - THIS kit has everything you need - it has the hardware, the software, and the cables! All you need is a computer, a record or cassette player, and a stack of old albums!

Our price? Just $28.97 and US shipping is FREE! Talk about a no-brainer! Once you're two or three albums into it, you're already money ahead! Talk about paying for itself - this sets a new standard! WOW!

http://store.worldstart.com/product/6504

PS - Bad new is that there is a limited quantity and people are snatching these up like records and cassettes are going out of style! Make sure you get yours before the technology to do these transfers ends up on the endangered species list!!!

FACT: Your Hard Drive Will Eventually FAIL!

100% GUARANTEED, FOR SURE - IT'S GONNA CRASH!!!

It's NOT a Matter of IF - It's a Matter of WHEN...

If It's Not Backed Up - You Lose EVERYTHING Forever!

YOU NEED DISK IMAGE!

Laplink DiskImage

Amazing Program Makes an EXACT Copy of Your Hard Drive...

And Will FULLY 100% Restore Your Computer After a Crash! FAST!

Software, Files, Programs, Windows, and Everything Else Will Be Saved!

Ever Wish You Could Travel Back in Time?

We've all had instances in our lives where we'd give anything to be able to go back and do something from the past differently. Maybe you missed the lotto jackpot by one number. Maybe you turned down what would have been a life-changing opportunity...

Or maybe your computer crashed and you lost everything - WHEN ALL YOU NEEDED WAS A SIMPLE BACK-UP PROGRAM AND EVERYTHING COULD HAVE BEEN RECOVERED - Files, software, programs, everything on your hard drive!

Well LapLink Disk Image is kinda like a time machine - it allows you to capture your entire hard drive on a disk as an image, and should you ever experience a crash, you just install the disk and EVERYTHING goes back to normal - your software, files, music, pictures: you name it, it'll all be there!

You just can't understand how awesome this is until a system crash inevitably happens to you - you won't believe how easy it can be to restore everything on your hard drive with this one amazing program!

Guess What? It Happened To Me - Windows Died.

Yep, me - the one whose ALWAYS telling people how important it is to back everything up no matter what. So, did I end up eating my words? Do I have egg on my face? NOPE. I used LapLink Disk Image, baby! That system crash picked the WRONG computer to mess with!

See, my Windows 7 did the old crash & burn - it happens to everyone sooner or later. It was completely crippled. My data was gone. My programs disappeared. My system needed to be COMPLETELY restored. Now, there's a few ways you can go about doing this, and they all go badly. Very, very badly.

It's Not a Matter of IF - It's a Matter of WHEN!

Hard drives are mechanical. They spin. It's 100% GURANATEED that eventually, your computer is going to crash. Just like it's inevitable that your car will need repairs eventually. And when it does crash...You lose EVERYTHING!

A Computer Crash Can Be DEVASTATING...

And what's worse? It's nearly impossible to restore it back to where it was before the crash. Your data is completely gone - photos, documents, music, financial records, e-mails - everything in your digital life is just plain gone!

Oh, and what about your software? You can spend DAYS trying to locate and reinstall your old software! Months, even! But after all that hard work, you're almost guaranteed not to have everything you did before the crash.

And good luck trying to recover those old serial numbers to prove that you indeed bought that software at some point. Who just keeps that stuff lying around? Nope - if your computer crashes, you're gonna burn...

Let's face it: a system crash is inevitable at some point. Be it in the form of a crash, malware or a virus. What's going to happen to all of your files, software and programs? How long will it take you to recover and reinstall everything? How much money would it end up costing you? It's going to be a miserable experience...

Unless you have LapLink Disk Image, of course. Then everything is fine!

Computer Crashes No Longer Mean a Thing!

Before we get to any of the specifics with this program, there's a couple of things you should know: this program is very easy to use (anyone can do it) and the bottom line is this:

LapLink Disk Image makes an EXACT copy (image) of your hard drive. If your PC crashes and you've used this program first, you can restore EVERYTHING back to the way it was when you did the backup by sticking the disc in and letting it do it's thing!

This image can be created on another hard drive, an external drive, a zip drive, a set of CD's or DVD's - whatever works for you. It's fast and couldn't be easier to use - IT RUNS DIRECTLY THROUGH WINDOWS!

That's right: software, files, programs, pictures, music...EVERYTHING!

Whether you accidentally downloaded a terrible virus, are experiencing a massive PC crash, got a ton of malware, have a PC that won't start - whatever - if you've used Disk Image, you'll have access to everything you backed up before your PC kicked that digital bucket.

Restore Individual Files!

This is TOO cool! Disk Image allows you to restore individual files as needed!

Let's just say you accidentally deleted an important file. Or somehow, you managed to corrupt a bunch of pictures you had saved on your computer. Disk Image allows you to restore ANY file you want - YOU get to pick and choose!

Simply pop your disk in and choose which file to reinstall. It's laid out right in front of you, and it's a quick and easy process. No matter what happens to your files, hardware, pictures - whatever - you can rest assured that it's safely backed-up and ready to be reinstalled whenever you need to!

Creating Back-Ups has NEVER Been Easier!

Maybe you just got a new computer and want to bring certain things over from your old one - no problem! Disk Image lets you pick and choose! And let's say you just bought yourself some EXPENSIVE new hardware. Install it and copy it with ease! Now it's backed up in case anything at all should happen to it!

And speaking of getting a new computer...maybe you're not aware, but most newer computer's don't come with a Windows restore disk anymore! Nope, the almighty dollar must be more important to them than customer loyalty...so get ready to shell out an extra 40 bucks on top of that new computer cost. OR use Disk Image - and restore windows on all your programs on your computer!

Look at that - this program has already paid for itself!

DON'T BE FOOLISH: MAKE A COPY OF YOUR SOFTWARE WITH EASE!

Added Bonus: Makes Adding A Larger Hard Drive Super-EASY!

Eventually you're going to run out of hard drive space. This happens to pretty much everybody, that's why external HD's are sold everywhere. Now, maybe a better idea would be to actually just put in a new, larger hard drive - but that's normally the kind of thing that would even give Stephen King nightmares!

Ahh, but if you have Disk Image, it's a snap! Just create an image of your current system onto the new drive and BINGO - Install the new drive and everything is just like it was before the upgrade - except now you have all the extra space! Sweet!

I'd say this alone is more than worth the cost of the program!

Talk About a BRILLIANT Program - Just Look at these Features!

Let's just sum this up, shall we? This might seem like a big bad program, but trust me - it's simple to use, powerful, and it WILL save you time, money and sanity! Check it out:

Makes an EXACT replica of the data on your PC!
Allows you to restore ANY AND ALL of your programs and data!
Optional Boot CD - repair & restore everything even if Windows won't start!
More Options: create FULL or PARTIAL disk images - it's entirely up to you!
This program allows you to burn the saved image to any disc: CD's OR DVD's!

THE BEST PART: It's EXTREMELY user friendly with a simple-to-follow wizard! Anyone can use this amazing program with ease!

Computers 101

Cameron from Durango, Colorado writes:

I was reading on a website the other day and they were talking about balloon tips. Then they were talking about pop-up descriptions on my computer desktop and didn't call them balloon tips. I was just wondering if there was a difference.

Okay, Cameron, how can I explain this without driving us both nuts?

When I started looking for the answer to your question, I got really confused. There were balloon tips. There were pop-up tips. There were description tips. There were tooltips.

But they weren't. Check this out: They are called screen tips. Every single one of 'em.

Every single little text box that pops up over an icon that displays information about that icon (or program that it represents), no matter how much information is displayed, no matter what the box says, no matter what shape, size, or color they are, is called a screen tip. It's just that somewhere along the way (and this is only my opinion) somebody got bored with all of the "screen" tips and started renaming them for lack of something to do (or to get a good laugh by making sure that we wasted time trying to figure it all out). Here's what I mean:

Balloon tips: The "balloons" or bubbles that pop up when you hover over an icon in the notification area (the group of icons in the area next to the clock on the lower-right side of the screen).

There are actually two types of balloon tips. (I mean types of balloon screen tips.)The first kind notifies you of what's going on with your system, such as your network status, or how high your volume is.

Balloon tip type #1:

The second type of balloon tip (I mean balloon screen tip) simply states what program it is that you are hovering over.

Balloon tip type #2:

(These are all screen tips.)

Pop-up (description) tips: These are the little descriptions that pop up while your mouse is hovering over an icon, such as a Word document or a song. They describe what that icon represents and can give as little or as much detail as you want them to.

These kinds of pop-ups (I mean pop-up screen tips) are not limited to your desktop. They're in your documents, your pictures, you music – anywhere that a description needs to be, that's where pop-up tips (I mean pop-up screen tips) are.

(And yes, they are all screentips.)

Tooltips: These are the tips in the top right corner of your Start menu. They describe what the name of the folder your mouse is hovering over, and that's about it.

If you can have a favorite tip, these are my personal favorites. The reason why I dearly love tooltips (I mean tooltip screen tips) is because of the incredibly enjoyable time I had trying to get rid of them. I wanted to get rid of the "balloon tips" (that's what I thought they were called, but boy, do I know better now) that appeared every time I was at the top of the right side of my start menu (in the right pane). I went everywhere on the internet trying without any success to find out how you can get rid of them. I was ecstatic when I finally found out that they were not called balloon tips at all; they were called tooltips. I thought, "Finally! Hah! I know what they are so now I'll be able to get rid of them!" but – hah! I rejoiced too soon! They weren't tooltips, they were screen tips.

Clear as mud.

An added note: If you want to get rid any types of these (mostly unwanted and unnecessary) screen tips, there are methods to do so. But be forewarned: The method is different with each kind of screen tip. (Why am I not surprised?)

The bottom line is this: If it pops up over your icon – whether it's a description, a title, a book, a movie, your mother, a light bulb – it's a screentip. Period. End of discussion.

And the end of this article!

Thanks for writing, Cameron!

On The Move

Flashlight LED Genius App

If you have an Android phone, you already might have a preloaded LED Flashlight app. However, you might find it difficult to even find it, because it's not in the main apps. This is because it comes as a widget which you have to enable. And then, sometimes, it's buggy at best and doesn't work consistently – like the one on the Samsung Galaxy Note.

So let's hit the marketplace!

There are one too many to choose from, so you go by the number of stars and the number of people who have downloaded it – and yes, you also check the comments left behind by those who have already used it. But these alone will not get you the best LED Flashlight app.

Viewing Reminders in MS Outlook

If you use Outlook for appointments or reminders, I'm sure you've seen the Reminders Window on more than one occasion.

(Yes – mine is empty. Must mean that I'm all caught up, right? Yeah, right – I wish…)

Anyway, I know that I'm not the only one who has accidentally closed that thing before I meant to, and now I'm wishing I could see the list again. (Unfortunately, my Reminders Window is rarely empty at work.)

The question is, do you have to wait until it pops open again, or can you get to it whenever you need it?

The Food and Environment Reporting Network

With all the different forms of investigative journalism out there, I have to admit that I was honestly surprised when I realized how under-reported the topics of food, agriculture, and the environment were. Just thinking about the recent "pink slime" meat controversy that has been plastered all over the Internet news outlets made me realize how powerful this kind of reporting can be, and how under educated we are about what goes into our bodies via processed foods.

Now I want share this site with you with one caveat, I'm not a judgmental eater – I like McDonald's as much as the nearest five year old, but that doesn't mean I don't like to be informed about what's happening out in the world of food, where it comes from, and how that process effects the earth. I'm sharing this site so that you have the option of being informed too.

On the main page, you'll find the featured articles in a rotating feature section. You can click on the one that catches your attention and read it. I found the article, If Food is in Plastic What's in the Food? to be a very interesting read – as well as the information about how farmers are under fire for nitrate pollution. Both topics that aren't be covered on my local news, but are well written about here on this site.

Navigation is easy. You can pick and chose from the articles listed on the main page (or in the feature section) or you can click on Blog on the navigation bar to find access to even more articles. Just click their title to expand and read the article.

I really liked the About Us section because it goes into detail about what the site aims to do, who the people are on staff, their code of ethics, and offers you a FAQ to check out. And if you really end up liking the investigative reporting that you find here, you can sign up for the newsletter and receive e-mails from them.

This is a really informative site that takes an in-depth look at the food we eat, where it comes from, how it is produced, and so much more. Check it out today.

One More Big Deal

Do You HATE Your Keyboard?

Can't....See...

THE LETTERS?!

Typing Just Became Possible Again...

WITH THE BIG BRIGHT KEYBOARD!

HUGE Black Letters on Green Keys:

THE PERFECT CONTRAST!

Standard Alpha Numeric Keyboard With 12 Function Keys...

USB POWERED PLUG & PLAY SIMPLICITY!

Well it's About Time...

Whether you have 20/20 vision or wear coke-bottle glasses that make your eyes look like baseballs, the letters and numbers on those keyboards are just TOO SMALL TO SEE! It's so annoying!

All this technology, all these big improvements to computers...and they've never really done anything to make it easier to type. Don't they understand that some of us sit at a computer all day? Don't they know that some of us don't have the genetics of Superman, enabling us to see tiny, microscopic things with our naked eyes?

Someone understands, and they've done something about it! It's a standard alpha numeric keyboard (the exact set up you're likely used to), but with MASSIVE letters on those keys and a color scheme to make it simple to see!

BIG Letters + Contrasting Colors = Perfect Keyboard Vision!

Most keyboards have tiny letters and numbers on the keys. Why? There's a ton of real estate left on each of those keys to make the letters bigger! It's just common sense, right? Well, apparently not...

Apparently, they want us to strain our eyes for eight hours every day. Maybe the manufacturers of these keyboards are in business with the optometrists and major eye glasses companies...

The letters and numbers on each of these keys are MASSIVE! You'd have to be legally blind to not be able to see them...and even then, you should be able to make them out! And it's not just the huge letters that make such a difference: it's the colors!

Bright green keys. Dark black letters. It's the perfect contrast! You can't go wrong!

Simple to Set Up: Plug & Play!

As you can see from the image, there's NOTHING complicated about this thing. It's a keyboard with one cord attached to it. That cord plugs directly into your USB port and you're ready to use it! No drivers, no set up, just 100% plug and play simplicity!

A few facts:

Standard QWERTY set up!
USB powered for plug and play simplicity!
Flip-up legs for the PERFECT angle!

It's also PC and MAC compatible, so it works on everything!

Things Can Be WAY Easier for a VERY Small Price!

Some places would charge a small fortune for something this cool. But not us! Today, get your BIG BRIGHT KEYBOARD for just $21.97 with FREE US SHIPPING!
