Theresa from Canada writes: My icons keep disappearing from my task bar near the clock. Only concerned with important icons, like Vipre, Logitech Gaming and Set Point. I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate. How do I get those icons back? Your taskbar icons (the tiny icons on the lower right hand side of the task bar next to the clock) have a nasty tendency (in Windows 7, at least) to either disappear or stay visible when you don't necessarily need them to. The good thing is Microsoft included a very simple way to customize which icons notify you and which ones always show. Step 1.) Click the triangle next to your task bar icons. Step 2.) Click on Customize Step 3.) Locate the icon you want to change how it displays and click the drop down box next to it. The three options are: 1: Show icon and notifications: This will always show the icon and any notification/popup message the application is trying to send to you. 2: Only Show Notifications: This will only popup a notification if the program is trying to notify you and won't display the icon otherwise. 3: Hide icon and notification: This will hide any popup/notification and you'll need to manually open the program to see any information from it. Once you've set the individual programs as you like, click OK and the taskbar should now show the icons you've selected. ~Tim Click here to rate this tip | Printer friendly version Do you have a question for us? Cool Windows Mobile Apps Part 1 Agreed, the Apples and Androids have cornered the app world, but the Windows Marketplace is catching up with over 60,000 apps up for sampling. These apps range from games and productivity to social networking, communication, and music & video, among others. Without further ado, we will pick a few of the most useful apps in a three-part series. 1. CleanRAM: To stop your phone from slowing down due to memory issues, just run this app there are four levels (Basic purge, Quality purge, Fundamental purge & custom purge). It will clean up the RAM and give you the much needed memory to stop your phone from slowing down. You can also schedule the clean-up by day or date. There's more here! Well, most people delete the thing, then go to the recycle bin and remove it from there. It works, but there's a better way. Get the tip here! (Want these tips in their entirety? Then again, there are situations like live concerts, theatrical performances or even film shoots where you are required to capture everything without using a flash. Flashes might light up your subject, but it can also flatten the image and make it appear one-dimensional. This makes your image look lifeless, with no depth or play of light and shadow (except for the harsh shadow behind the subject). This is particularly true of pop-up flashes that come with your camera. Without a diffuser that normally accompanies external flashes, these built-in flashes lead to over-exposed images and cast a bright spot on the subject, marring the beauty of your image irreparably. Here is where the following tips to beat low light situations might come in handy. Read the rest here! (Want these tips in their entirety? Sign up for Premium!) The stress of the semester left me chomping at the bit for it to be summer break, and now that it's here, I've been crafting up a storm. I have a humongous list of things to do this summer: painting the living room, hanging shelves, getting rid of books I don't need, knitting like the wind, crocheting, organizing, and crafting. This means I have also been hunting down crafty sites for inspiration, and I've decided that Ucreate is worthy of being shared with all of you. I stumbled upon it looking for neat ideas for cupcake toppers for a graduation party I was going to. The site is setup blog style, so it's easy to navigate. The most recent posts are at the top of the page and you can scroll down for older ones. On the right side of the page you'll find links to posts by categories, and at the top of the page you can choose to browse the categories on the navigation strip (Kids Crafts, Parties, Reviews and Giveways, etc.). The Kids Crafts section offers fun and interesting craft ideas to turn your children into busy little bees, and the Parties sections offers great ideas for decorations and treats to serve at a party. I love the cheery atmosphere of this site, and I hope you will too! http://www.u-createcrafts.com/ ~Amanda Click here to rate this tip | Printer friendly version Do you have a cool, non-commercial site that you want to share?Send it to Amanda at amanda@worldstart.com **It's Worldstart's LOWEST PRICE EVER!** COMPLETELY MASTER Windows 7 AND Office 2007...
