Disable Automatic Driver Installation in Windows 7 and Vista Usually when I install new hardware I just let Windows do its little driver dance and do all the installation for me. Windows 7 is especially good at this -just pop in the peripheral in question and it does the rest! Sometimes, however, it is more preferable to use the manufacturer's drivers -say, for example, in the case of installing a new video card. The original manufacturer's drivers are always better than the generic Windows drivers in cases like this. So let's stop Windows 7 and Vista from automatically installing devices like these! Click the Start button, and in the Search Box type View advanced system settings. Now hit Enter. Under the Hardware tab click on Device Installation Settings. In this window you can choose how Windows reacts to new hardware. Most users will want to keep it on automatic, but if you ever need to install the original equipment manufacturer drivers this is the first step! ~Andrew Click here to rate this tip | Printer friendly version

Safely Get In And Out of A Slippery Bathtub With Peace of Mind and Confidence! Simple concept, but then most great ideas are, aren't they? This specially designed safety handle will help you to get in and out of a slippery bathtub or shower by giving you a sure grip where you need it. And that's the beauty of this ingenious device.. YOU decide where it should go! You see, two strong suction cups firmly secure this handle to the side of your bathtub, shower wall (or wherever you need it!). Once you've got it firmly locked in place- it's not going anywhere! Then you can use it to hold onto and get a firm grip. What I think you'll really like about this is that it's BIG and easy to grab hold of, and it's convenient cuz you can put it where your want it to go! We all have those "standard", shiny metal grab bars (or even those porcelain ones) in the bathtub or shower. They may not be in the place that is best for you, that's the first problem. Second, they're usually pretty thin and sometimes easy to miss. Third, if you are able to grab 'em, they're slippery, especially when you're hands are wet (which they usually are in when you're in the bathtub!). You think ya got a hold of it, but your hand slips and "BAM"!...right on your keester! (Easy to do...done it more than once, myself!) With this, like I said, this Super Grab is HUGE, so it's real easy to grab. Also the non-slip handle definitely gives you a better, more secure grip than those thin, slippery metal bars. And also, you can put this anywhere in the area you want...on any smooth surface! Heck for that matter, you can stick one of these anywhere in the house where you need "an extra hand" (kitchen, basement, laundry room, travel trailer, you pick!). Plus, if you want to move it to a different area, simple, just release the lever, lift it up and fasten it to wherever you want! You can even take this with you when you travel...hotels, well, you get the idea! I love this Super Grip handle and I'm sure you will too! If you have elderly parents, I'm sure this is something they'd appreciate, too! These would also be great for anyone convalescing or recovering from an injury and are having difficulty getting around! Almost endless possibilities! And the best news is, we've got these at a super low price of just $16.97 and US Shipping is FREE!!! So don't slip...get a grip! and Grab Hold of This Super Deal while we got em! http://store.worldstart.com/product/4373 P.S. - WOW!!! These are such a great deal - grab yours now before the price heads up to $20.97 soon!
Adesola from Nigeria writes: Can you explain to me how to format a computer system? This article is going to provide how to format your PC based on whether you are using Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 using their installation CD's. It's important to note that you should backup all of your data before carrying out a format. You can do this by connecting an external hard drive or just making sure all of the stuff you want to keep is stored on an internal drive that does not contain your operating system and is not going to be formatted. It would also be a good idea to consider the drivers that your PC needs and whether these can be sourced on-line after formatting or whether you need to dig out that original CD that accompanied your PC out of the box. You can just Google your motherboard, graphics card and sound card drivers after formatting, typically without any problems. If you are unsure how to proceed, please consult a professional! We mean this!! Tip 1 Windows XP Simply insert your Windows XP bootable Installation disc and restart your machine. A notification to press any key to boot from CD will appear. If this option does not appear by default then you will have to check your motherboard manual on how to enable the "Boot from CD" option it's usually located in the BIOS. A blue screen will then appear and will crunch through some setup files, when this is over press OK to proceed to the Windows XP setup. Accept the Default Windows Agreement by pressing F8, you may then be prompted to repair your existing Windows XP, if there is one we want to format so we'll bypass this option. Next is to choose the hard drive that you wish to format and install Windows XP. Use the arrow keys to highlight a location, press the "D" key and on the next screen press "L" to confirm your choice to delete the location (if there is only un-partitioned space on your system then this can be skipped). You will find that the location is now described as un-partitioned, highlight this location and press C to create a new partition for the new Windows XP installation. Leave the partition size as the maximum it will go to and hit enter. It's best to choose NTFS "Quick" in the next option, hit enter. The drive will now be formatted and Windows XP will be installed. The whole process may take some time and cause the system to reboot several times. Don't remove the CD or press any keys until the entire process has ended. Tip 2 Windows Vista Insert the Windows Vista disc and reboot. The Windows Vista setup should start automatically (if it doesn't, reboot again and hit F2 or F8 to enter your computer's BIOS and select boot from DVD). Select the language, time and currency; click next and then install. Input your product key if you have one, if you don't put one in you will install Windows Vista under a fourteen day trial. Read and accept the License Agreement. Choose a location for the installation and choose format in that location. Select the Drive that you've chosen to format again and click next. The installation process will begin and will take some time. Once completed, insert your personal information when prompted. Tip 3 Windows 7 We have to insert the Windows 7 desk and reboot. Wait for setup to start, clicking any key when prompted. As with Vista, simply input the language, time and currency; click install now and accept the license terms. Click "Custom" install and then go to "Drive Options" and select the drive that you wish to format click format. The installation process will begin and will take some time. Once completed, enter your personal information when prompted. That's all there is to it, depending on which operating system you use, you can format your PC quite easily. Good luck and remember to consult a professional if you have any problems. ~Matthew McGuire Click here to rate this tip | Printer friendly version Do you have a question for us? Ask it here!
How to Block SMS Messages from Specific Numbers in Android SMS spam from mobile service providers and third party agencies seems to be inevitable, as companies heavily target phone numbers for running marketing campaigns. The result is nothing but tons of unwanted SMS messages lying randomly in your inbox, cluttering up the whole UI, until you manually delete them. This is quite similar to email spam you can't stop incoming messages because anyone who has your phone number can surely send you a message and there is no other way to prevent this cycle. Deleting spam messages and cleaning up the inbox is not the ideal solution, as these spam messages will return periodically from different numbers. This behavior is really irritating and if you find yourself wasting a lot of time in deleting unwanted SMS messages on your phone, here is a useful Android app which gets the job done automatically. Printing a Worksheet in OpenOffice Calc Sometimes I find that in order to accurately edit something, I need to see it in hard copy form it's just the way that I am. I need to be able to write on the page and think through my corrections in writing. Other times, especially with large worksheets, I need to see it in printed form because it doesn't all fit on the screen at one time and I can use the printout to double-check references made in formulas. Did I actually use the correct cell references or are there mistakes? To be quite honest, there are a lot of reasons why you might want your worksheet printed in a form that looks exactly like what you find on the screen with grid lines, column letter labels, row number labels and all. (Want these tips in their entirety? Sign up for Premium!) Why Not Outlook Express? Quite awhile back I ran a tip from one of our writers pertaining to Outlook Express. At the end of the tip I commented on how I was surprised that anyone was still using OE as their mail client. Of course, I received a ton of e-mail on this from concerned readers as to why I was surprised. Here's the reason why: Support for Microsoft Outlook Express officially ended with the release of Windows Mail, which was included way back with Windows Vista. That means that security updates and patches will no longer be distributed for it. In other words, if you're still using Outlook Express, your security is at risk. (Want these tips in their entirety? Spy Letters of the American Revolution I don't think it matters what time period is being investigated people love a spy story. I know I do! So when I ran across this site, Spy Letters of the American Revolution, I knew without a doubt that I wanted to share it with all of you if only so I could make time to completely check it out myself. This site has it all: secret code, invisible ink, captured letters, and more! I think you could start navigating the site anywhere you want. I started by reading the letters themselves in the Gallery of Letters, but quickly moved into the Stories of Spies and Letters because I really wanted the whole picture. I started with Rachel Revere to Paul Revere (Take the Money and Run) and then just used the Next Story link at the bottom of the section to navigate through the rest of the stories. I found the experience to be very interactive because there are links in the stories that you can click to find out more information. For example, in Take the Money and Run there is a link to Benjamin Church, which provides more information on him (he was actaully a spy for the British!) which really makes the stories you're reading full of interesting tidbits. Another fun way to browse the site would be to use the Timeline, and follow the events as they happened chronologically. This provides you an opportunity to check out the fascinating images of portraits, landscapes, etc. from the time period. Or you could just check out the People section, and view each person alphabetically (don't forget to check out the women who were spies as well). This is an awesome historical site, I hope you'll be as captivated by it as I was! http://www2.si.umich.edu/spies/ ~Amanda Click here to rate this tip | Printer friendly version Do you have a cool, non-commercial site that you want to share?Send it to Amanda at amanda@worldstart.com It's Like Being at a Concert...WHILE SITTING AT YOUR DESK!
