Marilyn from Waukesha, Wisconsin writes: I have inadvertently clicked on some unknown button that has enlarged everything that I open on my screen to a 22pt font. I have gone into "Control Panel" to "Magnifier" and I haven't been able to change any settings. I thought that maybe it was a mouse (I have ordered one of your fabulous mice) problem as my mouse does have a setting that I could press on the right "extra" button and it would magnify temporarily but now I can't even do that. Please Help. The Windows operating system includes several options for changing the size of icons, images, and fonts on the screen. While this can be helpful, if you need text to appear larger, it may also cause problems if words and images become stuck in a setting that is too big or small. Getting the text on your screen back to the proper font size is handled in one of a few different ways, depending on how the size was originally changed. (Want these tips in their entirety? Android Notifier Real time notifications on your Android device can be very distracting sometimes. Often your phone vibrates or makes a "ding" sound, and you unlock it only to find that a stupid text message has arrived. Notifications are cool, but not all of them need your immediate attention. If you are an office person and want to receive notifications from your Android phone on a regular desktop computer, the Multi Droid notifier application can prove to be very useful. This app shows all Android notifications as a system tool tip in Windows , Linux and MAC computers, so you can easily skip unnecessary notifications and keep an eye on the important ones from your computer itself. The only requirement for the app to work is that your computer and the Android device should be connected to a common router or wireless access point. Here is how to get Android notifications on a desktop computer running Windows, Linux or MAC operating system: Read it all here! (Want these tips in their entirety? Sign up for Premium!) OpenOffice.Org Writer: How Do You Measure? Many people, myself included, tend to use the rulers while they edit. I personally like to see where I am on the page, whether it's for placing graphics within the margins or to quickly place a tab stop at a particular location I just need to have the ruler visible. We all know that there are different units to measure with inches and centimeters come to mind first, but in computer programs there's also point (just like the font size measurement) and in OpenOffice.org probably a couple you haven't even considered. Read the rest here! (Want these tips in their entirety? Sign up for Premium!) Photoshop Elements: The Basics I love free stuff, but there are two programs that we've always purchased for our home computers; Microsoft Office, and Photoshop Elements. This is not because they're better than their free counterparts but, over the years, a certain familiarity has developed. Also, they each represent the industry standard, so a working knowledge can be an asset. Photoshop Elements is the bare-bones version of Photoshop. While it's more limited than its big brotherin addition to simple photo editingit offers many of the more complex features found in the larger program, and the similarities between the two make the transition from one to the other (relatively) easy. As a result, since many employers require some Photoshop skillsas long as those requirements don't include a thorough knowledge of the more elaborate full versionexperience with Elements may be enough to help land a position (it's worked for me). An additional reason to consider Elements is its price, which is roughly 10%15% the cost of Photoshop. Check it out for yourself here! (Want these tips in their entirety? Sign up for Premium!)
Welcome to Discovering Egypt, where you will find a ton of information on ancient Egypt. This site isn't kidding with its claim that you'll find lots of Egyptian stuff on it. If you don't believe me, just look at the side menu on the left! That's a whole lot of information about Egyptian stuff! There is a great paragraph on the main page that introduces you to some of the topics like Egyptian Kings and Queens, Pyramids and Temples, Rebuilding Temples, Hieroglyphics, and Egyptian Numerals. On the main page, you'll also find other featured items like e-cards, free desktop backgrounds, and an Egyptian Math Worksheet Creator. There are even games and quizzes that you can play! One of my favorite parts of the second math class I had to take for my degree was learning Egyptian Math, so I really love that there is a whole section dedicated to that here. You might also find the Mummification section interesting; it is filled with videos on the topic that were very informational and kept my attention. And while we're on the topic of videos, there is a section devoted just to that. They have scoured the internet and found an amazing assortment of videos for their collection. You'll find a top ten video assortment, then below that videos divided by the Egyptologist/Historian/Archaeologist, and then videos sorted by program. This site is filled to the brim with information on ancient Egypt, check it out today! http://www.discoveringegypt.com/ ~Amanda Click here to rate this tip | Printer friendly version Do you have a cool, non-commercial site that you want to share?Send it to Amanda at amanda@worldstart.com
Still Using a Mouse to Edit Photos or Do Graphics Work? THAT'S CRAZY - GET WITH THE TIMES! Get THIS Graphics Tablet with Stylus Pen And... PREPARE FOR SURGICALLY PRECISE PHOTO EDITING & GRAPHICS! There's NEVER Been a Better Way to Edit! The Tablet with Pen Allows You to Actually "Draw" on Your Screen... OR TRACE PHOTOS TO CREATE AMAZING DIGITAL DRAWINGS! High-Tech & High-End - And we've Got it for an Outstanding Deal!
If You've EVER... Done any kind of photo editing, or any kind of graphics work, you'll absolutely, positively 100% LOVE this thing! You see, before graphics tablets, you were forced to do your editing work with your mouse. How natural did that feel? Not natural at all. There's no precision with a mouse, and it shows in both photos and graphics. But a graphics tablet that comes WITH a pen...now that's what you need. All you need to do is hook the tablet up to your PC and then you can use the "Pen" to draw on the tablet, which then shows up on your computer screen! Freedom! Precise, Simple and Efficient! Ok, there's TONS of graphics and photo editing programs out there. Like, endless amounts. And all of them force you to do your editing by clicking and dragging your mouse. It's pretty ridiculous, and almost NEVER works right. In fact, you end up spending way too much time if you're trying to edit with a mouse. The good new is, no matter what graphics or photo editing sofware you're using, if it can be controlled by a mouse, it can be controlled with this graphics tablet! Ever used a mouse trying to do precise work? Yeah...it doesn't work. At all. The Graphics Tablet sits next to your keyboard and functions just like a mouse pad. Only there's a pen included with this tablet, and it allows you to draw on it - while the mouse follows along on the monitor! Basically, the Pen becomes your mouse without actually replacing it! Simple Set Up! All you have to do is plug it into your USB port! One of the coolest features here is that you can use both the pen/tablet at the same time you're using your mouse - it's the best of both worlds! Perfect 5.5'' X 4'' Pressure Sensitive Tablet - SO Easy to Use! The tablet is 5.5'' X 4'' for simple drawing. Easier to use than a mouse? That's the understatement of the century! You can even lift up the transparent drawing grid, slide your favorite photo or picture underneath it and trace over your picture! Before you know it - your favorite picture will soon become an incredible digital drawing!! Just try to do that with your mouse! For example, if you're painting with black, a light touch would only put down a light grey, harder would be a middle grey, and full pressure would be black. You're Gonna Love it - Here's Why: The usefulness of this thing pretty much speaks for itself, but here's a quick list for all you fence sitters... HUGE Improvement for a TINY PRICE! These days, we all do a little photo editing - you pretty much have to if you're taking digital photos! Well as you now know, this thing makes it WAY easier.
