CE Blog Post: What's the Big Idea

Last week on Inside Computer Explorers, we interviewed Ronald Holmes,Ph.D. He is the driving force behind The Holmes Education Post (THEP), an education focused Internet newspaper designed to publish weekly articles on education issues. THEP provides resources and publications on best practices to support public education.

As a former teacher and administrator, Dr. Holmes provided a lot of insight into the hows and whys of a successful student.

Educreations for iPad

Educreations is an iPad app that functions as a recordable interactive whiteboard that captures your voice and handwriting to produce video lessons that you can share online. (If you don't have an iPad, You can also create lessons using our online whiteboard, which works in any browser that supports Flash.) Students and colleagues can replay your lessons in any web browser, or from within the app on their iPads. Educreations Strives to be a global community where anyone can teach what they know and learn what they don't.

19Pencils Update for Google Chrome

We have previously written about 19Pencils, and interviewed founder Jason Fabbri on Inside Computer Explorers. Yesterday the company posted an update to their Google Chrome extension and the application is now available within the Google Chrome store.

The earlier version has been available for some time, but with this update the accessibility and installation is easier. With one click you can install and add new resources to teacher class pages from anywhere online! As with existing teacher services, it is 100% free of charge. Now that the app is in the Google Store, it allows for 19pencils to make regular updates and improvements to the toolkit for teachers.
