Quick Tip

Firefox Open All In Tabs

You know that nifty bookmark area in Firefox? The one right above the place where all the tabs open up? Well, mine has a fair number of favorite links I can click on, but I find that most of the time I end up opening all of them in a browsing session anyways.

That's why the Open all in tabs option is so appealing to me. Just right-click in a blank area on your bookmarks bar and click Open all in tabs.

Poof! All of you bookmarks bar links will open at once and you're good to go!

Note: Google Chrome has a similar option (accessed the same way) called Open all bookmarks. This option, by default, opens each bookmark in its own separate tab.

Featuring Gigabit Power: 10X Faster Than Standard Routers!

Dual USB Power - Connect and Share EVERYTHING Under One Network!

Router

Beautiful Sleek Design - Slim - Black - Perfect!

Connect ALL of Your Computers to One BLISTERING FAST Router!

All Routers Are NOT Created Equal!

So there you are, thinking that your 802.11 N router is the best you can get. It's not really all that fast, but as far as you know it won't get any better.

So you go on with your computing life, meandering through your work, surfing the net, etc. but you can't help but wonder if there's something better out there. Something with FULL THROTTLE speed. Something that gives you a whole lot of convenient options.

As you can guess - we've got it! It's a router like NONE that you've ever seen before! You've gotta check out what this thing can do for you!

Let's Talk Speed. Insane, Gigabit Powered Speed!

Most important first, right? So yes, this router is 802.11 N compatible. The newest and fastest type currently available on the market. But there's something that REALLY sets this one apart from the others.

See, most of the new routers you get today come with 100mbit speed. Not bad, but not great, either. You still find yourself waiting longer than you'd like, downloads take too long, etc. You'd think with all this new technology that they'd be able to perform faster...

Well guess what? This router is powered by GIGABIT SPEED - WHICH IS 10X FASTER THAN 100MBIT!

Did you catch that? This router is 10X faster than the other 802.11 N routers! That's going to make a huge difference, don't you think?

Dual USB Ports - Connect & Share Everything!

This is about to blow your mind! On the back of this router, you'll find 2 USB ports. Go ahead and connect a flash drive, a hard drive, a printer - whatever - and this will share it with all computers running on that network!

For example, let's say you're at home using this router. There's 4 other computers in your home being used by other family members. You have some important info on a flash drive that you'd like to share with everyone on the network. What do you do?

Plug the flash drive into the back...AND EVERYONE ON YOUR NETWORK IS ABLE TO AUTOMATICALLY HAVE ACCESS!

That's right - anything you plug into the dual USB ports will show up on all computers on the network under a "shared hard drive" granting them FULL access! It's a brand new, amazing upgrade to ALL existing routers!

4 Wired Ethernet Ports!

You'll LOVE this. See, maybe you have a couple of older computers at home. Well guess what? With this router, you can directly connect them using ethernet cords, and they'll be able to share that speed!

This is especially useful if you have a few older computers around the house that you only use on occasion, for particular projects that don't require wireless connection. Well, now you can have the best of both worlds!

This router is all about sharing, and it's all about high speed. Perfect!

The Specs Will BLOW YOUR MIND!

So now that you know what you're getting, let's go ahead and sum it all up.

802.11 N access - 300 Mbps Transfer Rates - As good as it gets!
Gigabit Speed - 10X FASTER Than Standard 100mbit Speed!
Dual USB Power: Plug in Devices and Share With Your Entire Network!
4 Wired Ethernet Ports - Take Old Computers to an Entirely New Level!
Slim, Black and Sleek. The PERFECT Design that Stays Out of Your Way!

Ru from Kings Park, NY asks:

How do you make "List" your default View option in Windows Explorer?

To set the default view option, Windows Explorer offers the following choices; Thumbnails, Tiles, Icons, List and Details. This tip shows you how to make List the default view .

To reset the default view, perform the following steps:

Open Windows Explorer. In this tip, the default setting is Icons, as shown below. We'll change this to List.

Click the Tools menu and then Folder Options.

image

The Folder Options window appears. Click the View tab.

In the Advanced settings box, scroll down until you see Remember each folder's view settings. Note that this option is selected. When this option is selected, Windows remembers the view option set for each folder.

image

To set the List option for all your folders, deselect (uncheck) the Remember each folder's view settings option.

image

To make this setting take effect, click the OK button. The Folder Options window closes. Notice that the default view still hasn't changed to List.

In Windows Explorer, click the View menu and then click List.

image

That's it! Now, the List view is your default view setting.

Tip: To change the default view from List to any other view, you do not need to repeat the entire process. Simply perform the last step again and select the appropriate view.

To make this change in Vista, start by clicking the Organize button, found on the left side of the Toolbar. This will reveal the Folder and Search Options button. Once you click on that, you can then follow the directions above.

On The Move

Swype your Way to Typing Heaven

Swype is the newest way to type on your smartphone. It's fast, and can type at about 40 words per minute. It's simple, too – you can learn without even watching the tutorial. Just place your finger on the letters you want to type, and swipe to the next and next, until you complete the sentence. The moment you lift your finger, an automatic space is inserted – however, you will have to pass over the period symbol to insert a full stop. The algorithm isn't intelligent enough to know when the sentence ends. Also, insertion of periods is a matter of style. To each his own.

Making the Handles Easier to Grab

When you have an object selected in any program you're looking at a bunch of handles like this:

ooo_object_handle_example

They are there for very good reasons, such as re-sizing and moving your object, but sometimes you may find them a bit difficult to use.

If you're not great with the whole click and drag thing, or you have difficulty seeing exactly when the pointer is on the handle, then they can be more frustrating then they are useful.

Fortunately, OpenOffice.org programs have the ability to lend you a helping hand in these situations.

Within your program options you will find one labeled simply as "Large Handles"… which means exactly what it implies…

Today's Feature

Paul from MN writes:

I was surfing the web and came across a free computer operating system called Ubuntu. It says it is as good or better then the standard ones – claiming it cannot be infected by spyware, viruses, or be hacked.

Have you heard of it and what are your impressions of it?

Ubuntu is an operating system, similar to Microsoft Windows or MacOS, which is provided free of charge as an alternative to paid operating systems. Ubuntu is based on Linux, and is an open source operating system, meaning it's developed in public and anyone can see or modify the code which makes it work.

Amanda's Coolsite

The World of 100

This site takes on the challenge of depicting what different sets of statistics would look like for a population of only one hundred people, and then turned them into posters.

The site is easy to navigate, all you have to do is click on the poster you would like to see larger and be whisked away for a closer view.

I really love the perspective that looking at these statistics for a group of one hundred people can have. From my life experience, I feel like I've been oversaturated with the idea that everyone should get a college education; then looking at the statistic for these posters, only one person would have that education in a group of one hundred.

The other one that really got me was the one for computers, I don't think I could live without my computer. But in that same sampling only seven people would have a computer.

I find these posters thought provoking and I hope that you will too.
