Humans in Space!

http://www.lpi.usra.edu/humansinspaceart/The international Humans in Space Youth Art Competition encourages youth to "Be Inspired, Creative and Heard." Students are asked to think about the future of human space flight and to communicate their ideas creatively. By including the next generation in the planning of the future, the competition aims to enhance student awareness, interest in and support for human space flight, and to allow their ideas to begin shaping the future now.

The current 2012 competition invites young people from 10 to18 years of age to submit visual, literary, musical and video artwork expressing their vision of how humans will use science and technology in the future to explore space and uncover its mysteries. Their submissions will be judged by an international panel including artists, scientists, teachers, engineers, astronauts and others.  The winning artwork will be woven into displays and performances designed to relay the youth artists' messages to other young people and adults around the world.

When: Forms, waivers, and artwork must be received by or before midnight US Central Standard Time on October 21, 2012 for all entries.

Who: Art from two artist age-group categories will be judged separately: ages 10-13 years and 14-18 years.  Individuals must be 10 to 18 years old (born on or after September 1, 1993). An artist younger than 10 years old may still enter the competition, but he/she will be judged along with children 10-13 years old.

What: Competition winners will receive awards and have their art displayed and performed worldwide and viewed by scientists, astronauts, engineers, artists, and the public.
