Florence from MA asks: What are drivers? Good question – a classic, in fact! Drivers are basically instructions that tell your computer how to use its hardware. Each hardware device in your computer has a driver. Some, like drivers for a keyboard or mouse, are built into the computer itself. Others, like video card drivers or network drivers, need to be installed when you get a the new hardware device. Without the proper driver, your stuff won't work, that is, unless you have a newer operating system like Windows Vista or 7 that can search for certain kinds of drivers. If you're having trouble with a particular hardware device, chances are that an updated driver may solve your problem. These can be found at the website for the company that made your equipment. Terry from Sarasota, FL writes: I have used Hotmail a long time, and in all the years they have never added more fonts. Is there a way to get more fonts? In the web-based version of Hotmail? No. However, the best way to achieve this is not to use Hotmail in a web browser, but instead to download a program that will access your emails for you. This will eliminate the need to log in, open a browser and wait for it to load – plus it will give you all of the font choices that you might expect in Microsoft Word as well as a whole host of other advantages. The program that might be the easiest to set up with Hotmail is Windows Live. Simply click this link and then click "Download Now".  Install Windows Live and unlock the potential of your Hotmail account Once you've downloaded and installed the program, simply go to your mail inbox, click Accounts and then click Email. Type in your Hotmail account details and presto, you have now increased the power of your emailing abilities tenfold! You may notice that the layout is similar to other Microsoft Office programs. Jack from Florida writes: I need to convert a six hour VHS tape to my laptop with Win 7. I downloaded six video converter programs that only deal with videos that are already on the computer. I need free software that will capture the video on my VHS tape and move it into my computer. Do you know of a freebie to capture video from my VHS player? Hi, Jack. The quick answer to this is "no, I personally don't know of a freebie that will do what you want". The primary reason for that, however, is that most freebies are trial versions of a full program, and will typically only encode about twenty minutes of video before they require you to pay for the full version. I downloaded a freebie video converter once that converted 2 minutes of the video, and then wouldn't allow me to even watch that. MS Excel: Cells to a Table – No Mouse Required By now we've all found the Format as Table button on the Home tab of the Ribbon will take a range of selected cells in turn them into an easily and beautifully formatted table. However, if you're not one for the mouse then I do have a solution for you. Next time use the Shift key + arrows, Home, Ctrl, etc… (or a combination of them) to select the range of cells to be converted to table format. There's more here! Check it out!
